After 8 Months of Construction, VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium Takes Shape. After eight months of construction, the 135,000-seat VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium in southern Hanoi has begun to reveal its four grandstands, offering a clear view of the massive structure as it gradually takes shape. Once completed, the stadium is expected to become one of the world’s largest stadiums.
| The VinFast – Trong Dong Stadium (Thuong Phuc commune, Hanoi) is the central building of the Hung Vuong International Sports Complex, part of the Hanoi International Sports City. Before its current name, the facility was known as Lac Viet, Trong Dong, Hung Vuong, or VinFast. |
| Spanning approximately 73.3 hectares and with a seating capacity of 135,000, the VinFast – Trong Dong stadium is envisioned to become one of the largest stadiums in the world . |
| In mid-August, despite the hot weather, the construction site maintained a rapid pace of work. Machinery, equipment, and a team of workers and engineers were mobilized at various locations, implementing the project components according to schedule. |
| According to the plan, the reinforced concrete structure will be completed in December 2026. After this phase, the project will continue with the construction of the dome, electromechanical systems, playing surface, and other technical items. The stadium’s roof is designed to open and close automatically. |
| With a capacity of 135,000 seats, the VinFast – Trong Dong stadium is designed to be larger than the Narendra Modi Stadium in India , which is currently announced to have a capacity of approximately 132,000 people. |
| This stadium is also many times larger than the My Dinh National Stadium, which has a capacity of approximately 40,000 seats. |
| The project is designed to incorporate numerous technological solutions in its operation, including artificial intelligence, a 5G-connected smart seating system, and real-time security and crowd management solutions. The playing surface is designed to be replaceable within 6 to 10 hours. The project also considers water collection and reuse to reduce the need for clean water. |
| Along with the stadium, roads and infrastructure connecting the project area are also being developed. In particular, a 120-meter-wide road is being invested in to improve connectivity between the sports complex and the southern Hanoi transportation network. |
| According to the plan, the VinFast – Trong Dong stadium is expected to be completed in July 2027. When put into use, the facility is intended to serve sports tournaments, cultural and artistic programs, and large-scale international events. |
